I Am
a Bride
I am a
bride.
I am loved
and I am in love.
I am
planning more than my wedding.
I am
planning my future, my family, my legacy.
I am
emotional and often misunderstood.
I work
long and hard and without thanks
My family,
friends and fiancé almost always come first.
I am a
daughter that grew into a women who will soon become a wife.
I am
creating a life for me, my future husband and children.
I am
beautiful. Bold. Brave. Insecure. Caring. Loving. Selfless.
I am both
lost and found, excited and scared, happy and sad.
I get one
day. Just one day in my entire life. One day to be a bride.
I feel the
pressure, the overwhelming emotions,
The expectation of unobtainable perfection
The whirlwind of change while everything remains the same
Lost in a dress , I feel the
fear and step into my processional.
To be given
away by my father and taken by another man.
To awake
in the morning with one name and one family and go to bed with a new name and
new family forever changing the ties that bind.
To dance
my first dance.
From Miss
to Mrs.
From I
will to I do.
To
celebrate my love for you. My love of family. Love of Friends.
In a
moment, my path, my future, my family, my name will change.
Yet, I
will still be me.
I will
wear the dress but it will not wear me.
I am a
bride and this is my day.
