Check out some of the photos from Amy & Diego's Waialae Beach wedding! The happy couple selected the "Elope to Hawaii" wedding package which included minister, leis, 1 hour of photography and more. They also choose to add on limousine service, videography and upgraded flowers.

Photography - Many people ask if an hour of photography is enough time. As you can see by the slideshow, they have a huge selection of images to choose from. An hour is the perfect amount of time for very small ceremonies with the bride & groom and perhaps a few close friends. If you have more people, you may want an hour and a half to two hours to ensure everything is captured.

Flowers - The bride, Amy, is wearing a fresh floral Hawaiian Haku made of white orchids, baby's breath and assorted greens. Amy also had a double white orchid lei while Diego had a ti leaf maile with white orchids. Normally with the Elope to Hawaii package, only two simple fresh floral leis were included. However, the couple choose to upgrade their leis and add on the Haku for an additional fee.

Location - The ceremony and photos took place at Waialae beach park (also called Kahala beach). The location has a rustic cement bridge, green shrub walk way and islet view. The ceremony usually takes place on a green grassy patch with palm trees fronting the ocean. You may notice in some of the photos that the beach is very rocky and this is because it is a coral rock beach and not a sandy beach.

Ceremony - Pastor Gary Powell officiated the civil ceremony with Hawaiian elements including Hawaiian lei exchange.

Tis the Season of Change

We hope you and your loved ones are having a great holiday season. Here at the Romance Specialists, we have been as busy as Santa's elves preparing for 2012.

If you have been visiting our website then you have probably noticed a lot of changes. In fact, some have commented that they viewed a package and it changed minutes later only to change again a day later. It's true we have been changing things a lot lately but all packages and pricing will be finalized shortly and at that time will stop fluctuating. We apologize for any inconvenience but they are being done so we can serve clients better.

Some changes we are planning on:

Wedding Webpage Sites - It is estimated over 80% of all couples have a wedding website regardless of the amount of guests or location. The reason they are so popular is friends and family (both those who are and are not attending the wedding) will call, text and email the bride and groom several times asking about the wedding. It becomes very time consuming so couples quickly realize the quickest solution is a wedding site with all their information. However, this website ends up being another thing on the brides plate and their information can be different than our own. So, the simplest solution is for us to do it for our clients! We put your wedding details on their complete with date, time, location, driving directions, Hawaii tips and more! It will even have a link to where your wedding pictures will be at after the wedding! It's the perfect solution for everyone involved in your wedding!

Online Guest RSVP - On our wedding webpages your guests will be able to RSVP online and you'll automatically get a notice via email as will we here at the Romance Specialists so that we always have an up to date guest count

Online Sign In Book - Both those who are and are not attending the wedding can go on your wedding webpage and leave comments for the bride and groom allowing everyone to be a part of your wedding.

Guest Welcome Packet - For the first time ever, we have created a small guest welcome packet that will be emailed to guests when they RSVP for your wedding! The packet will include wedding tips, things to do in Hawaii and more.

Save the Date Videos - Virtually every bride sends out save the dates and a growing trend is a video you can email , post on Facebook or Youtube. Regardless if you do or don't use our video as your save the date, this little video is a great keepsake you'll enjoy for years to come. The video includes up to 10 photos of the two of you plus our own little spin. It's a great way to get everyone excited about the wedding while getting the word out in a unique way.

Slideshows - Your family and friends love you but they don't want to look through hundreds of wedding pictures in prints or online. What they want - and what you need - is a beautifully crafted way to showcase the highlights of your wedding that everyone will enjoy. Most of our new packages will now include a slideshow which will show highlights of your wedding to tell your story. They are the perfect presentation piece for receptions, online announcements or simply sharing with friends and family.

New Website - While our new site will look and feel similar to our current website, we will have completely redone the navigation bar system so that the site is more user friendly and flows better with your search needs.

Fewer Packages/More Additions & Upgrades - Instead of a long list with lots of different packages, we are going to offer fewer packages but with more options to add-on the things you want and none of the stuff you don't.

Gallery - We will have a new, more traditional gallery page with a gallery of images to view our work. We will move the links with all the weddings to wedding webpages and a new page called 'real weddings"

Bridal Lounge - Exclusively for Romance Specialists clients, this area has everything you need for your wedding including driving directions, downloadable welcome packets, wedding & photography tips and so much more!

Wedding Login - Clients will now be able to login and view their wedding information online 24/7!

Revised Online Payments - We will have a new online payment system that operates quicker and automatically.

Above are some of the many, many changes coming to help better serve our clients and give them the best wedding experience possible.

Our goal is to have everything completed within the first 2 weeks of January 2012. Until then, please pardon pardon our progress and we work to serve you better.

Vacation Notice

Aloha Ladies & Gents,

Dawn here. I hope everyone is having a very blessed season! Today I was presented with a great surprise! My aunt, who is a flight attendant, offered me a space-A flight from Hawaii to Ohio so that I could visit my family back home. While I'm completely stunned by the last minute offer, I am also extremely excited to see my family whom I haven't seen in almost 5 years. I have a niece I've never met before and can't wait to meet her.

Anyways, since I don't have any weddings during this time and all immediate business has been taken care of, I'm going to give it a try. My understanding is there is a 50/50 chance I will or won't get on the flight so it's not written in stone until I'm on the plane. This highly improvised trip is a bit much for a professional planner to swallow but I'm up for anything that will bring me close to my family.

I'm sure some of you may be wondering if it will affect you in any way and the answer is probably not. I don't have any weddings during this time. All CDs that have already been ordered have been mailed and any new agreements we have received have been confirmed. If you do send in an agreement or order a CD during this time, my assistant will most likely send you confirmation and at the very latest, I will upon my return next week on the 7th.

If you want your CD quickly and haven't ordered it yet, if you order your CD before 4 PM HST on the 29Th I'll mail it out before I leave.

Naturally, if I'm on vacation I won't be available via phone or email but will get back to you promptly upon my return.

If you need anything, please let me know.

Otherwise, I'm off (hopefully) to see my family! and you know I must love my family if I'm leaving Hawaii to go Ohio in November/December. Brrrrrr.... It's going to be cold! LOL!

Aloha Everyone! Bride's and grooms are always asking us about decor for the beach. It's true you can't have arches, tables, chairs or "bulky" decor at the beach. However, you can have some items. Below are a few pictures of some great ways to add some decor to your beach wedding!

Grand Floral Alter - Can come in a Circle or Heart Shape made to coordinate. This varies in price but averages around $350.


Bamboo stanchions with coordinating fresh flowers with a medium floral alter which can be made in the shape of a heart or circle. The flowers in the stanchions can be removed and used later as table centerpieces at the reception! This varies in price but averages about $800 - $1,000


Bamboo stanchions with coordinating fresh flowers with white orchid heads to create an aisle way. The flowers in the stanchions can be removed and later used as a table centerpieces at the reception or as gifts for guests. This varies in price but averages about $600 - $800.


The couple is standing in a simple lei alter circle that comes in purple, white or green and is $100. Then to create an aisle are scattered orchid heads $60.

Perhaps the simplest and most cost effective is the scattered orchid head aisle way which is generally $60 - $80.

This is another variation of the Grand Flower Alter done in the shape of a heart in colors to coordinate with the bride's bouquet.

As many of you know last week The Romance Specialists very own Dawn Nash had the opportunity to photograph the birth of a newborn baby girl! This unexpectedly had her out of the office last Thursday & Friday and we are closed on the weekend plus holidays so she was not in on Monday either. Tuesday & Wednesday she has been playing catch-up from her time away. If you need anything please let us know as she is now back in the office.

While not right for everyone, bridal boudoir are intimate portraits of the either the bride, bride & groom together or bride & bridesmaids. They can be anything from glamorous to elegant to fun or flirty! You can keep it as "tame" or as 'wild" as you want however they will always be tasteful!

Our bridal boudoir photography sessions are all shot by professional female photographers including Dawn Nash in private locations and use the "tease" method. Nudity is completely optional and various shoot styles are available from classic boudoir, beach, glamorous, old fashioned, editorial and pin-up.

Your pictures will be kept 100% private and not posted anywhere online or in our portfolio unless you give us expressed permission to do so.

This really is a special experience that brides often love that ads fun, excitement and added intimacy to your wedding.

Over the last 6-8 months we have been listening carefully to clients and trying to find better ways to service clients. Big changes have been taking place over the last month and one of our newest is sure to make both current and future clients very happy!

We Found The Solution to Destination Wedding Communication!
Almost every day a new bride will call and say "I've called and emailed so many people and you are the first person to return my call or answer the phone". Or perhaps, a bride whose wedding is months away will not be getting the prompt attention she wants. It seems brides are trying hard to communicate with vendors but they aren't connecting. Many brides seem to feel a bit victimized by the lack of immediate attention from wedding vendors statewide and it can be frustrating!

We understand and agree. It is frustrating for both brides and vendors alike. The problem arises because wedding professionals work 50% of our time in the field in meetings, rehearsals, weddings, etc... when it's not appropriate to take phone calls, texts, etc... That combined with the time difference between the mainland makes getting any vendor on the phone when you want them seem like potluck. It's not that they don't want to take your call but vendors must prioritize and service the closest weddings first and respect the current weddings by not tending to other clients during their meetings, wedding, etc.. Unfortunately, this can leave new bride a bit down in the dumps at times.

So what is the solution? Putting clients in complete control of their wedding no matter where in the world they are or what time of day it is! How? Our new online forms! Now, brides and grooms can upload photos directly to their wedding file, make changes, customize their ceremony, even get pricing all online 24/7! And clients will even get a confirmation to confirm that their information was received plus a printer friendly receipt to track all of their changes on their side! This literally puts both client and vendor on the same page! No more waiting for phone calls or emails! Your wedding is completely within your control 24/7!

Of course, we are still here to take your phone calls. In fact, we now have expanded it to include your coordinators cell and key vendors cell numbers plus TEXTING! That's right! Go ahead and text to 808.256.7661 if you have a quick question. Whatever form of communication works for you! While we still don't answer the phones while in a meeting, wedding, rehearsal or while we sleep (whenever that is), we do find that the new forms will help clients have a better experience all around.

Plus, Dawn, your lead coordinator, has an i-phone who can get emails in field to help get prompter responses to short emails quicker!

Soon we will be releasing our Skype information and have online meetings and consultations with clients too!

In addition to that, we will be offer a monthly newsletter with tips, information and more to clients!

Wow! That's a lot and all of it is done to ensure that you - our clients - are getting the attention you need and wedding you want!

For those of you wanting to see Dawn on the small screen, she is currently featured in the Aloha United Way TV commercial as the "revealed giver" and is the only person who has a speaking line in the commercial which is airing statewide in Hawaii. Dawn can also be seen in the HBO/Funny or Die parody flick "Naked Dawn" with Rob Schneider playing the part of Tonya. Dawn is well on her way to being a local celebrity and we are so proud of all her hard work! Way to go Dawn!

TRS Auditions for the Big Screen!

While unrelated to weddings, today is a special day for TRS ohana Dawn Nash who will be auditioning for a Lifetime original movie that will be shooting here in Hawaii! Dawn was called by a casting agent to audition for the role of "the bride's best friend who plans her destination wedding in Hawaii" ! The role sounds like a perfect fit for Dawn as this is what Dawn does every day of her life! Don't worry, if she gets the role Dawn won't be leaving her day job but would take a couple days off work for the shoot! However, we think it speaks volumes that Dawn was asked to audition for this role and we really hope she gets the part! If she does, you'll see Dawn on the Lifetime network in late 2009 / early 2010! Break a leg Dawn!

Oh -Some clients have asked if Dawn was on TV prior and the answer is yes! Dawn is on a local TV commercial here in Hawaii for Aloha United Way, she's been a featured wedding planner on The Joys of Crafting TV show, appeared with Hawaii Wedding Crashers and more!

We're still recovering from 9-9-09 but it should be back to business as usual now!

9-9-09 is the busiest wedding day of 2009 nationwide! While it didn't compare to 7-7-07, we did do 4 weddings in one day today which is a lot for us! For some companies, 4 weddings in one day would be considered slow but for TRS, we rarely do more than one wedding per day much less 4! We like to take our time and give a bit more personalized attention to each couple but today nobody was rushed, everything went great! It was amazing and everything went perfectly! Congratulations to all of you!

On a personal side note for any of you interested, Dawn Nash, one of our TRS ohana, is auditioning tomorrow on 9-10-09 for a movie for the part of the "bride's best friend who plans her destination wedding in Hawaii!" We can't give out any details about the film but the fact that Dawn was called upon to audition for the role speak volumes! If she gets the role you will see Dawn's performance on the Lifetime Channel sometime in late 2009 or early 2010. Break a leg Dawn!

Today is 9-7-09 (Labor Day) and our office is closed! We will re-open on 9-8-09. However, please be advised that 9-8-09 all vendors will be extremely busy in meetings and rehearsals as 9-9-09 is the busiest wedding day of the year.

Reminder to all the 9-9-09 brides out there - the Department of Health will be closed on 9-7-09! Arrive at the department of health early on 9-8-09 as it is sure to be a very busy day for them!

Tomorrow morning, Minister Gary, Philip the photographer and Johanna the on-site coordinator will be doing an "Oahu Wedding" at the VA Gazebo for Terry & Michael! Tomorrow afternoon, Pastor Jofrey, myself as well as on-site coordinators Philippa & Holly will be coordinating & officiating Ashley & Bobby's wedding!
